What is Parent Coaching?

Parent coaching is a unique and creative way to support you in raising your children.  As your parent coach, I will listen intently, ask key questions, provide relevant information, and offer specific suggestions to help you thrive more as a family.  During coaching conversations, I will help you discover more about the unique strengths of your family, assist you in identifying your dreams, and help you with designing action steps to move toward your dreams.  In essence, I am a supportive companion who champions your highest aspirations for yourself, for your children, and for your family.

I work with parents who want to be intentional about their parenting.  They are willing and determined to do what is in the best interest of their children and their families.  Some clients want to find ways to help the mother and father work more as a team.  Other clients may appreciate support as they welcome a new baby into their home or navigate the school system.  In each case, I work with the parents to set goals based what is important to them.

Parent coaching sessions are tailored specifically for you.  We will discuss your specific concerns, values, and goals.  I generally coach clients once a week, over the phone.  However, I work with my clients to find a pace that works well for them.  One coaching session consists of one 60 minute phone call, a follow-up email and email availability throughout the week. A complete parent coaching package consists of approximately twelve weeks.  However, if at any time during the process you are satisfied with your progress, you are not obligated to the full twelve weeks. 

What is a PCI certified Parent Coach®?

A PCI Certified Parent Coach® is a highly trained individual with a broad background of education and experiences. Headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, the PCI is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to making life easier for mom and dads in our increasingly complex world.  Founded in 2000 by Gloria DeGaetano, pioneering educator and acclaimed innovator in family support, the PCI offers the only accredited Parent Coach Certification® training program in the nation.  The PCI program is an intensive graduate level program offered in collaboration with Seattle Pacific University.  The program consisted of a comprehensive theoretical background, along with a supervised practicum, setting the national training standards for the parent coaching profession.
