What kinds of goals can a parent coach help me achieve?

I will tailor our parent coaching sessions to you, your unique family, and the specific concerns of your family. Do the demands of parenting overwhelm you?  I can help you sort through the pressures of life so you can focus your time and energy on what is most important to your family.  Would you like to find ways to work more as a team with your spouse?  Would you like some support as you welcome a new baby into your home or navigate the school system.  In each case, I work with the parents to set goals based what is important to them.

How long can I expect to work with you?

I recommend a session of 12 weeks.  Each coaching series is unique and you will move through the process as your own speed.  At any time, if you are satisfied with your progress and feel you are finished, you are not obligated for 12 weeks.     

Why parent coaching?  Can’t I just read a parenting book? 

I love parenting books and I have shelves of them.  However, parent coaching is unlike any parenting class or book you will ever attend or read.  Because I work with parents in a one-to-one setting, I tailor our sessions to fit your desires and needs.  I can help you sort through the information overload many parents face.  I can support your unique family in the specific issues and challenges you face.  

Do I have to live near you to sign up for parent coaching?

No, I do most of my coaching over the phone.  We find a time that works for both of us and I call you at our appointed time. 

What is the PCI and Parent Coach Certification®?

Headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, the PCI is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to making life easier for mom and dads in our increasingly complex world.  Founded in 2000 by Gloria DeGaetano, pioneering educator and acclaimed innovator in family support, the PCI offers the only accredited Parent Coach Certification® training program in the nation.  The PCI program is an intensive graduate level program offered in collaboration with Seattle Pacific University.  The program consisted of a comprehensive theoretical background, along with a supervised practicum, setting the national training standards for the parent coaching profession.
